In a significant stride towards academic and research development, Dubai Police, represented by the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU).

The agreement aims to launch the UAE’s first master in forensic sciences, bolster cooperation and solidify relationships in fostering academic and cultural exchange to meet strategic objectives shared by both entities.

Major General Ahmad Thani Bin Ghalita, Director of the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology at the Dubai Police, and Prof. Dr. Ahmad Ali Murad, Vice President of UAEU, signed the MoU in the presence of Dr. Rouya Rashed Al Kindi, Assistant Dean for Research and Graduate Studies at the College of Sciences; and a number of senior officers and officials from both sides.

Major General Ahmad Thani Bin Ghalita expressed enthusiasm over the partnership between the two entities, emphasising that Dubai Police has always been keen on solidifying its collaborations with leading local and international educational institutions.

"Such synergies significantly contribute to knowledge exchange and best practices that serve the strategic objectives of both parties," he said.

Strategic Partnership

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Ali Murad said, "We take pride in signing this MoU with the General Command of Dubai Police, an institution that excels in scientific research and places significant emphasis on human resources, attracting experts in various fields."

He also highlighted the importance of this strategic partnership for achieving qualitative achievements for the next fifty years, pointing out that this MoU will support the future of education and scientific research system between both parties.

Terms of the MoU

Meanwhile, Colonel Dr. Rashid Hamdan Al Ghafri, Director of the International Centre for Forensic Sciences, stated that the agreement includes several areas of cooperation, the most prominent of which is collaboration in developing and managing academic programs, projects, studies, scientific research, organising joint conferences and exhibitions, and preparing a training package to be provided as scientific references in specialised workshops.

"The agreement also facilitates access to Dubai Police's criminal laboratories for education, training, and scientific research purposes, along with the exchange of scientific studies and statistics to assist researchers in legal studies, among other items," he noted.
