The Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA), represented by its Academy, organized a training program that aims to develop the capabilities of 25 leaders from the Ministry of Media and its affiliate media entities, including the Saudi Broadcasting Authority, Saudi Press Agency, and General Commission for Audiovisual Media on the uses of data and AI technologies according to the best international practices. The program is part of a series of programs organized in various stages to accommodate different career levels, as part of the joint cooperation between SDAIA and the Ministry of Media, and the participants were senior officials from the Ministry and other media authorities.

The ongoing program, which runs until April 30, seeks to develop national competencies in media, allowing them to harness the power of data and AI technologies to ensure a competitive media job market and elevate media practices by utilizing advanced technologies. Furthermore, the program aims to equip media leaders with the skills to develop and implement strategies for data and AI to strengthen their role in policy-making and other procedures relevant to each media entity, as well as keep abreast of the rapid advancements in the various AI and data science fields.

The program delves into crucial topics in AI and data science. It explores the core concepts of AI and how AI technologies are shaping our daily lives, particularly in professional settings. The key areas covered in the program include machine learning (ML), deep learning, and natural language processing (NLP). The program examines the significant implications of AI across various sectors and highlights the importance of data management through two key areas: data strategy and the impact of data analysis tools in the public sector. Furthermore, it equips participants with the knowledge of key principles, policies, and practices for developing AI models, while emphasizing the identification and mitigation of potential development risks.

This program comes within SDAIA's keenness to develop national capabilities across government entities in technological fields, primarily AI. Since its founding in 2019, SDAIA has undertaken efforts to achieve the ambitious objective of developing national capabilities by leveraging the expertise of leading data and AI specialists. This stems from SDAIA's role as the national reference for all matters related to data and AI in the Kingdom, including regulation, development, and handling.

it is noteworthy that SDAIA and the Ministry of Media have launched the AI Center for Media (AICOM), which marks a pioneering initiative in the Middle East. They also launched the "Gen AI in Media Bootcamp," concerned with leveraging generative AI technologies in media and exploring the future of AI and its applications in various means of media in a way that enhances the Kingdom's position as a leading country in the field of data and AI, realizing the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
